norway’s jotunheimen

The Land of the Midnight Sun – magical, majestic Norway. Despite being Norway’s most popular national park with the highest peaks in Scandinavia, Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark ("Home of the Giants") feels off the beaten path. You’ll spend your time traversing hut-to-hut through the park, then navigate your way to Bergen, on the west coast, via the country's longest and deepest fjord - Sognefjord. With its rocky, rugged mountains, its wild landscapes, sparkling lakes, friendly locals, cozy mountain huts and spectacular fjords, Norway is not to miss.

You begin your journey on emerald-green Lake Gjende and, for seven days on the trail, you’ll cross roaring rivers, picnic alongside pristine lakes and hike past Glittertinden and Galdhoppigen - northern Europe's two tallest peaks. After each day of winding your way past rocky cairns, herds of reindeer and through splendid scenery, you settle into comfortable and quaint mountain huts where the local owners will welcome you as friends.

Cozying up to a homemade dinner of fresh trout with a sheepskin blanket wrapped around you, with a Norwegian to your right, a Swede to your left and a Dutchman across the table, is the perfect way to end an already spectacular day.

You’ll wind down your time in Scandinavia with a night on the shores of the Sognefjord in a family-run inn before traveling to the coastal town of Bergen. Sailing through the largest fjord in Norway on a high-speed catamaran is a fantastic finale to an unforgettable trip that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Our trip was fantastic. Your planning and organization was a godsend and you somehow put together the perfect trip for us. We spent 5 days in complete delight at just having to put one foot in front of the other, soaking in the endless views and vistas, and knowing that at the end of the day, we had rooms waiting, warm showers and someone to feed us meals. We are smitten with Norway. We were also amazed at the at the number of glaciers we saw every day. They were on the map but somehow we didn’t realize just how visible and awe inspiring they’d be. In fact, my personal favorite was standing on top of the Glittertinden looking down on a glacier. I never thought I’d experience that in my lifetime.
