1. AGUAS ARRIBA | lago del desierto


Accessible only by foot or by boat with exclusive views of the Fitz Roy
The unique, remote, luxury mountain lodge, Aguas Arriba, is accessible only by foot or by boat. As soon as you enter, you’ll be welcomed like old friends by the owners and hosts, Pato & Ivor. Located on the shores of Lago del Desierto, a secluded realm in the untainted Patagonia wilderness, Aguas Arriba was hand built by Pato & Ivor out of natural wood & stone. The lodge boasts beautiful views of its natural surroundings: an emerald green lake, hanging glaciers, forests and unmatched views of the Andes range & the majestic peak of Mt. Fitz Roy. Fly fish for salmon and trout and hike to the Chilean/Argentine border before you watch the sun set over the Andes from the deck each night. There are six en-suite bedrooms that are spacious and tastefully decorated in ways that honor the nature that surrounds the lodge. All rooms have lake views and some have views that overlook the Vespignani Glacier or Mt. Fitz Roy. The main living room has a stone-built fireplace and a balcony with views towards the lake, Mt. Fitz Roy and the Vespignani Glacier. The bar is always well-stocked and the cuisine is exceptional. The on-site restaurant offers hearty & delicious meals that highlight the local food and the love of a home-cooked meal. Aguas Arriba is truly a special and unique place.


2. EOLO | EL CALAFATE


Luxurious ranch-style lodge in remote Patagonia
Eolo is a luxurious Patagonia ranch-style lodge that sits just outside of El Calafate near Los Glaciares National Park and Perito Moreno Glacier. The private estate (spanning nearly 8,000 acres) offers panoramic views towards Mount Frías and has an expansive network of walking, biking and horseback riding trails right out the front door. The property truly embodies the spirit of Patagonia and also has friendly, attentive staff as well as excellent cuisine and wine. Aesthetically, the lodge was built using traditional materials and has the vibe of an authentic estancia. The decor is full of neutral tones, blending into the surrounding environment. The rich colored fabrics and large windows put the focus on the outdoors. The 17 rooms are all spacious and offer stunning views of the Anita Valley, Torres del Paine and Lago Argentino. On site, there’s a bar and restaurant that serves up exceptional local food, a spa as well as several cozy living areas and even a full library. The overall service is top notch and a stay at Eolo is a truly wonderful experience in every way.


3. THE VINES RESORT & SPA | MENDOZA

Located south of Mendoza, The Vines is part hotel, part privately owned vineyard. Here, you’ll find a rustic luxury vibe where everything feels classy and wide open to match the spectacular surroundings. The 22 villas are exquisite - with floor-to-ceiling windows, private patios, rich fabrics combined with neutral tones and big, beautiful bathrooms. The design of the resort uses stone and concrete to blend smoothly with nature. When it comes to food & drink, The Vines is one of the best. Francis Mallman (Argentina’s beloved chef) manages the excellent restaurant using rustic cooking techniques that offer options for exciting and extravagant Argentine cuisine. You’ll always have your food paired with some of the best wine in the world. Easily accessible from the Vines are many options to get outside and enjoy nature: walking trails, hiking trails, horseback riding through the vineyards, options for fly fishing and more. There are also cooking classes and winery visits available. The staff and concierge are great to work with and help coordinate any activity that’s of interest.


4. LEGADO MITICO | BUENOS AIRES


Boutique hotel in the heart of Buenos Aires
Legado Mitico is a luxurious boutique hotel located in the heart of the trendy Palermo Viejo neighborhood. Each of the 11 rooms pay homage to Argentina’s most famous personalities from Eva Perón to Che Guevara to Carlos Gardel. The hotel features a beautiful private garden, a historic library and lounge, as well as a dining area for guests to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine at the end of their day of exploring. Legado Mitico is owned by two prominent local architects and not one detail has been overlooked. A refurbished three-story townhouse, the stylish hotel blends classic and contemporary and is full of artwork, Argentine rugs, hardwood floors, natural cow hides and leathers, plush cushions, bookcases and neutral tones throughout. It feels part hotel, part museum. Though the hotel does not have a restaurant on-site, it is a short walk to many of the best restaurants and bars in the city. The staff at Legado Mitico are friendly and knowledgeable and when you stay here, you feel as though you’re in your home away from home.

Nestled at the foot of Mt. Fitz Roy
Hosteria Senderos is located on a quiet street in the town of El Chaltén in the Los Glaciares National Park. The views from the hotel towards the Fitz Roy are incredible and arguably the best in town. The hotel is warm and cozy, and the owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. With gabled wooden roofs and parquet floors, the hotel is spread out over a three story alpine chalet which truly feels like home. Each room features local lenga wood furniture, colorful textiles, king beds and many rooms that have views towards Fitz Roy. There’s a small, well-stocked wine bar on-site as well as a lounge area with a fireplace and an excellent restaurant. The breakfast served each morning is hearty and focuses on highlighting local cuisine.


6. CAVAS WINE LODGE | MENDOZA


Understated elegance in the heart of Lujan de Cuyo
Cavas Wine Lodge sits at the foot of the Andes just south of Mendoza in Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina’s most famous and prestigious wine growing region. The vibe here is an understated elegance and it’s the perfect place for a trip full of activity and relaxation. There are just 18 spacious rooms and villas, all of which are sprinkled amongst the vineyards. Each room offers a lounge, private fireplace, indoor & outdoor shower, private terrace, plunge pool and private rooftop terrace with an outdoor fireplace. At Cavas, cuisine is a major focus and a huge highlight of your stay. The menu options are full of high-quality, locally sourced, creative dishes served in beautiful surroundings. From your doorstep, there are some walking trails, options to horseback ride through the vineyards, go fly fishing nearby and ride your bike. The small city of Mendoza is just a 30-minute drive and is always a great option for exploring some of the best restaurants and prettiest streets in Argentina. At Cavas, the staff are incredibly friendly and very knowledgable - the goal is to make sure that all their guests slow down and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

In front of Fitz Roy, a charming cottage owned by mountain lovers
Surrounded by the Andean-Patagonia forest, Hostería El Pilar is located in De las Vueltas River valley where the Eléctrico River flows into the De las Vueltas River. Hostería El Pilar is a special spot as it’s the only accommodation around El Chaltén that actually sits within the park itself. Perfectly located for hikers, there are several trailheads nearby. The cottage itself was built as a replica of the original houses that were brought over by the British when they colonized this area. The views of the mountains, Fitz Roy and the De Las Vueltas River Valley are unmatched. All of the 10 rooms are simple & comfortable and all have great views to the mountains. A number of sitting areas filled with light and cozy nooks to read or play games, the Hostería is decorated in a style that honors the history and environment of this stunning region. There are fireplaces throughout as well as a porch where you can sit and enjoy your surroundings as the sound of the river trickles in the distance. The food at Hostería El Pilar is incredible and Cristina and Guillermo serve home-cooked meals with with big smiles. Since it was built, in 1994, El Pilar has been lovingly run by locals who hope that all their guests feel the magic of this place as they do.
