listening, learning & committing

To our Pathways community,

We built Pathways to explore the world, connect with people and to positively impact the environment and the communities that we discover together; to hear stories from people all around the world and to engage with and learn from those who offer different perspectives than our own. We believe that traveling and exploring the outdoors strengthens our connections with each other and makes the world better.

Racism has no place in our world and we cannot ignore the inequalities that the Black community continues to face. We are sad, angry and heartbroken over all the pain and suffering that has gone on for far too long. We mourn the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many other Black men, women and children.

As a White-owned and operated business, we are committed to understanding how we can be better and do better in an intentional and meaningful way as allies in the travel & outdoor worlds. We have spent the past week having meaningful conversations, listening to Black voices and educating ourselves through books, podcasts, articles and documentaries. We have made donations to the NAACPBlack Lives MatterWeGotNext Organization and Soul Trak Outdoors. We plan to add these organizations to the list of our annual contributions that support and protect the planet and people. We are committed to integrating education, engagement and action into our daily lives and into our business - beyond just the next few days and months.

We are one small company and these actions are one small step. It has been inspiring to watch communities and people around the world come together to speak up and act against the systemic racism in our country - a reminder that every action is an important part of this powerful movement.

We still have so much more work to do. We hope you'll join us.

Fondly,
Sarah & the Pathways Team
